Course / Workshop Content
Who is this for? Everyone! This is an open dance class for fun and fitness, the course is aimed anyone who wants to learn a new dance skill, improve an existing one or simply get moving. It is suitable for all adults and all ability levels. What will I learn? We start the session with a good stretch out followed by a cardio warm up. We then move on to learn simple dance techniques and moves each week which can be integrated into a great dance routine each term. The dance techniques vary from how to link steps together, how to turn correctly and travel across the dance space safely etc. We also look at different dance styles, jazz, modern, show or theatre dance, lyrical, contemporary and a little bit of Latin and ballroom. We use a variety of music, everything from the most up to date tracks and show tunes, to Latin and vintage tunes or sometimes we just have a good old boogie!! No special equipment is needed just comfortable clothing you can move in and either jazz shoes, trainers, or bare feet, which ever you prefer. Bring a thick towel or mat as we do some floor work during our warmup and water of course. The course content will help teach a level of skill, but I can assure students, whether you’re a novice or have a little more dance experience, I’m sure we’ll have plenty of fun working and learning together. How can I use what I learn? Dance is good for so many things. In addition to promoting general fitness, it can help with things like concentration and motor skills, coordination, motivational skills and add to general levels of confidence and a sense of wellbeing. .
