Guitar Lessons - Beginner
12 part course. Starting Thursday 19th September. 3-4pm Ian Kerr
Course / Workshop Content
Who is this for? The beginner’s guitar lessons are just that, lessons for anyone who shows an interest in learning to play the guitar and to start them on their musical journey. Ian holds several groups a week and tries to match students with similar abilities together to ensure they get the most out of the sessions. The sessions are only for beginners and a maximum of three students attends each. What will I learn? The lessons are based on a combination of playing basic chords and then using them in easy traditional folksongs (including optional singing) to build your confidence, practice, and learning. As you progress, there will be the opportunity for you to be placed in a group with likeminded students, with similar abilities, so that you can continue your learning and increase your guitar skills at a similar pace. There is no need for you to own a guitar as we have some at the college which we lend out to students. You will need to return the guitar if you leave the college or withdraw from lessons. Please note that it is important that you are willing and able to practice at home on a regular basis and sadly, long nails will hinder your ability to play the guitar, so you may have to keep these trimmed to participate in the lessons. How can I use what I learn? We hope you will enjoy these fun and relaxed sessions and start your own musical journey. Working in small groups, Ian hopes that students will learn in a comfortable space and learn at your own pace. Practicing at home, will also give you some time out from the world, whilst learning a new relaxing skill to enhance your wellbeing
