Course / Workshop Content

Who is this for? This workshop is for anyone wishing to learn more about autistic traits, challenges, and strengths. It is designed to provide an understanding of autism in its broadest definition and we will investigate different aspect of autism and the implications. Whether you are an autistic and want to make better sense of your world or you are working or supporting an autistic person, this workshop is designed to increase your knowledge and awareness. What will I learn? You will learn about the ‘Impairment Triad’ and what that means in everyday life. We will look at how each autistic individual is unique and start breaking down barriers and stereotyping of the condition. We can investigate the different terminology and be more accurate with our use of language. We will learn ways to support ourselves or others when they experience difficult situations and learn how to make the environment more inclusive and suitable. The workshop will also consider ways of making our day-to-day tasks more mindful and of different ways of thinking and perceiving he world. How might I be able to use what I learn? If you are autistic, you will be able to better advocate for yourself and find ways to make suitable accommodations to your day to day, so that you are able to thrive. You will be able to use your knowledge to better understand and support those who are autistic, to better understand them and offer effective help and advocacy.
